Three Candidates File For Election:

Jamie Wickliffe
Jamie Wickliffe recently announced her candidacy for election to the Midlothian City Council.  Jamie is owner of Americana Realty and has lived in Midlothian her entire life. She previously served on the City Council from 1990-2002 serving as the city's MayorPro Team for most of her tenure.  She is a registered and masters real estate appraiser and has been used as an expert witness in many issues regarding real estate. Jamie left the council in 2002 to spend more time with her twin toddlers and her husband Gerald. Her 30 years of management and previous experience on the council are attributes that will prove to be invaluable. Jamie says in her press release that ; "It's time to get back into what I enjoyed most; serving the community I grew up in. It's easy to sit on the sidelines.  What I would really like to do is get back in the swing of things. Our community has changed in the 8 years since I left office. I have some ideas that are worth pursuing and would like to be part of a team effort to get us where we want to go".

William Redding
Former RCAA (Rural Citizens Against Annexation) Director Bill Redding has filed to run for the open seat vacated by the former Mayor ProTem Dusty Fryer. Bill is retired and has lived in the Midlothian area for 31 years. "  While Bill was serving as President of the RCAA, that organization supported of a boycott of local businesses.  "How can one be against local businesses and expect to find support for a leadership role in our city" asks Jason Kyle, board member of the recently formed
Midlothian Together organization and one of the founding members of the Downtown Business Association.  The RCAA has long advocated a "take over" of City Hall.

On his website, Bill lavishes praise on the current City Council by stating: "Midlothian continues to look to the future.  In attaining future water rights, the ability to provide water will be met.  The second water treatment plant will ensure the increasing needs of Midlothian residents and the other municipalities that buy water from Midlothian are fulfilled."  He goes on to say: "Our police and fire departments are second to none.  Their budgets are a large part of the city’s overall budget.  Federal grants and agreements with the ECESD will allow continued growth in these departments, with minimal impact on taxes."

Bill's website does not list any educational qualifications, business or professional experience, or any civil service experience to show whether or not he is qualified to serve as a City Councilman.

Dustin Mikel
Dustin Mikel has dropped out of his bid for a place on the City Council.

 Midlothian Together endorses Jamie Wickliffe.
Midlothian Together strongly supports candidates that have proven experience in moving our community forward. The recently formed committee
Midlothian Together,  is made up of a cross section of Midlothian residents and businesses that support positive growth and a continued emphasis on a quality place to live.  Jamie Wickliffe has a proven tract record that suggests just this. "With the leadership of these individuals, Midlothian will continue to be a place we can all be proud to call home" says Ted Howard, one of the organizers. "We have seen plenty of mud slinging from other candidates " adds Gary Hensel. These people want to turn back the clock on what we have worked so hard to accomplish. I happen to believe that quality of life is something we should all be concerned with.  I don't want metal buildings and doublewides along Main Street Midlothian. We have moved beyond the small town politics and should appreciate what we have done to recognize the importance of maintaining that small town feeling."  Midlothian Together wants UNITY back in our commUNITY......Not individuals that think we got here by happenstance. We appreciate what has been done by our past leaders and need to do all we can to bring this commUNITY back together.
